Questions, answered.
A few things people often wonder before reaching out. Don't see yours? Send us a note.
How do I book an appointment?
There are two simple paths. If you're using insurance, book through JoJo's Headway profile — new patients start with a free intro consult. If you're paying out of pocket, request a visit through our secure portal. Both are linked from our booking section.
Do you take my insurance?
JoJo is in-network with nine major plans through Headway: Aetna, Anthem Blue Cross & Blue Shield, Carelon Behavioral Health, Cigna, Highmark BCBS of Western NY, Highmark BlueShield of Northeastern NY, Oscar, Oxford, and UnitedHealthcare. Don't see yours? You're still welcome as a self-pay client, and we provide superbills for out-of-network reimbursement. See fees & insurance →
Are visits in person or by video?
Both. JoJo sees patients by secure video anywhere in New York, and in person as well. You're welcome to choose whichever helps you feel most comfortable.
What happens at the first appointment?
Your first visit is an unhurried evaluation — a conversation about your history, what's bringing you in, and your goals. From there, JoJo works with you to shape a plan, which may include therapy, medication, or a combination. Nothing is one-size-fits-all.
Do you prescribe medication?
Yes. As a board-certified psychiatric nurse practitioner, JoJo provides careful, collaborative medication management — including buprenorphine treatment for substance use — always explained in plain language, and never without understanding the full picture first.
